Mitchell is a Certified Public Accountant and former audit partner with a Top 200 accounting firm, where he served clients across the greater East Texas area for more than 12 years, specializing in telecommunications, utility providers, oil and gas, and employee benefit plans. Effective January 2026, he transitioned from public accounting to serve as Controller of SDS Petroleum Consultants, focusing on accurate financial reporting, financial analysis, forecasting, and strategic decision-making in collaboration with management. Mitchell holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Master of Professional Accountancy from Stephen F. Austin State University. He currently serves as Chair of the Schlief School of Accountancy Advisory Council, and continues to support his alma mater by lecturing an accounting course each May. He resides in Henderson, Texas, with his wife, Lauren, and their two children, Ryder and Reese.
